Distribution model

Approximately 85 percent of Industria Försäkringsaktiebolag’s products are mediated through partners, affiliated agents or independent insurance intermediaries, while approximately 15 percent are sold directly to customers.

Most of the company’s partners offer insurance that covers risks such as loss or damage to goods, malfunctions, inability to use a service, as well as damage to or loss of luggage in connection with travel. The affiliated agents do not have their own permits for the sale of insurance, but operate under the permission of the Industrial Insurance Company and distribute insurance as a supplement to their main products or services.

The company’s network of affiliated agents and partners includes credit institutions, banks, travel agencies, retail chains and car dealers, among others. Products in safety and travel insurance are sold almost exclusively through partners, while insurance in product and assistance – with the exception of travel insurance – is partly also sold directly to customers.

Industria Försäkringsaktiebolag’s distribution model and commercialization process is primarily based on establishing strategic partnerships within relevant product segments and entering into agreements with partners. These agreements are often procured in competition with other insurers, and in most cases this means exclusivity, where the partner undertakes to only offer the company’s insurance products.

When a consumer buys or receives insurance through a partner, the company focuses on the aftermarket potential, which means that the customer can extend the insurance or take out additional insurance. The part of the sale that takes place directly to the customer mainly consists of aftermarket sales, where customers are offered to extend their insurance or take out individual insurance with equivalent protection that was previously included in a mandatory group insurance. The extension of an insurance policy is usually offered via letter, e-mail or digital mailbox, where the customer actively needs to approve continued insurance cover for a fee.
